Product Overview

N,N-Dimethylformamide (abbreviated as DMF), CAS No. 68-12-2, is a colorless, transparent liquid with a slight ammonia-like odor, completely miscible with water and most organic solvents. Industrially, it is synthesized from methanol and liquid ammonia via the methanol amination-carbonylation route, with the product then refined through distillation to remove moisture and dimethylamine. DMF is one of the well-known “universal solvents,” combining high polarity, a high boiling point, low volatility, and excellent chemical stability. It has extremely strong dissolving power for most polymer resins, making it a key solvent for polyurethane pastes, acrylic fiber spinning, copper-clad electronic laminates, and pharmaceutical synthesis. Our product has strictly controlled moisture, acidity, and amine value specifications, along with good color grade, meeting both electronic-grade and industrial-grade requirements.

Product Uses

  1. Polyurethane Paste: Serves as the primary solvent for PU synthetic leather paste and spandex spinning, making it a core solvent in the artificial leather and spandex industries.
  2. Copper-Clad Electronic Laminates: Used in copper-clad laminate adhesive formulation, electronic cleaning, and photolithography processes.
  3. Acrylic Fiber Spinning: Used as a solvent for both wet and dry spinning of acrylic fiber.
  4. Pesticides and Pharmaceuticals: Used as a reaction solvent and catalyst for the synthesis of pesticide technical materials, sucralose, and active pharmaceutical ingredients.
  5. Gas Separation and Organic Synthesis: Used as an absorption/extraction solvent for gases such as acetylene and butadiene, as well as a formylation reaction reagent.

Packaging and Storage/Transportation

Packaging: Typically packaged in 200L galvanized iron drums, with a net weight of approximately 190 kg per drum. Large quantities are shipped via ISO tank containers, tank trucks, and 1000L IBC tote tanks.

Storage: This is a Class 3 flammable liquid, UN No. 2265, with a flash point of approximately 58°C. It should be stored in a cool, well-ventilated hazardous materials warehouse with a warehouse temperature not exceeding 35°C, away from ignition sources and heat. It should be stored separately from oxidizers, strong acids, strong bases, and halogenated hydrocarbons (DMF may decompose to form dimethylamine when in contact with strong bases or under high temperatures). Containers must be sealed to prevent moisture absorption — this product is highly hygroscopic, and excessive moisture content will directly affect the performance of downstream pastes.

Transportation: Must be transported in accordance with Class 3 flammable liquid regulations. During loading and unloading, care should be taken to prevent packaging damage; operators must wear penetration-resistant gloves (this product can be absorbed through the skin) and goggles, and good ventilation must be maintained at the work site.

Product Advantages

  1. Stable supply sources with long-term spot availability, suitable for large-volume foreign trade orders.
  2. Stable product purity with minimal batch-to-batch variation, suitable for downstream deep-processing production.
  3. Backed by a comprehensive chemical supply chain system, enabling one-stop procurement of multiple categories of chemical raw materials.
