Ethyl Acetate, CAS No. 141-78-6, is a colorless, transparent liquid with a strong, fruity, ester-like aroma, and is the most widely used industrial ester solvent by volume. Industrially, it is produced through the esterification and distillation of acetic acid with 95% ethanol under the catalysis of concentrated sulfuric acid or solid acid catalysts; we can also supply product manufactured via the acetaldehyde condensation method and the ethylene addition method. Ethyl acetate has strong dissolving power, a moderate evaporation rate, a pleasant odor, and low toxicity, offering outstanding overall cost-effectiveness. Product Uses
- Inks and Coatings: Serves as the primary solvent for gravure inks, flexible packaging inks, and nitrocellulose lacquers, balancing dissolving power and drying speed.
- Adhesives: Used in the solvent systems of pressure-sensitive adhesives, laminating adhesives, and footwear adhesives.
- Pharmaceutical Extraction: Used as an extraction and crystallization solvent for active pharmaceutical ingredients such as antibiotics (pharmaceutical grade).
- Food Flavoring: Used as a solvent and diluent for edible flavors and fragrances, and also used in formulating fruit-flavored fragrances (food grade).
- Printing and Cleaning: Used as a diluent for flexible packaging printing and as a cleaning agent for metal and electronic components.
Packaging and Storage/Transportation
Packaging: Typically packaged in 200L galvanized iron drums, with a net weight of approximately 180 kg per drum. Large quantities are shipped via ISO tank containers, bulk tank trucks, and IBC tote tanks.
Storage: This is a Class 3 flammable liquid, UN No. 1173, with a flash point of approximately -4°C, making it highly flammable. It should be stored in a cool, well-ventilated Class A hazardous materials warehouse, with a warehouse temperature not exceeding 30°C, away from ignition sources and heat, with open flames and smoking strictly prohibited, and protected from direct sunlight. Electrical and ventilation equipment must be explosion-proof, and containers and pipelines must be grounded to prevent static electricity. It should be stored separately from oxidizers, strong bases, and strong acids. Containers should remain sealed to prevent moisture absorption, avoiding hydrolysis that would increase acidity.
Transportation: Must be transported in accordance with Class 3 flammable liquid regulations, with vehicles equipped with flame arrestors, static-electricity-discharging ground straps, and fire-fighting equipment. In summer, transportation is best conducted in the early morning or evening to prevent sun exposure, and loading/unloading should be handled gently with controlled flow rate.
