Product Introduction
Propylene Glycol Methyl Ether (1-Methoxy-2-propanol, abbreviated as PM or PGME), CAS No. 107-98-2, is a colorless and transparent liquid with a slight ether-alcohol odor, fully miscible with water. It is industrially produced by the addition reaction of propylene oxide and methanol under catalyst action, with process control used to increase the proportion of the α-isomer (1-methoxy-2-propanol) to reduce toxicity. As a representative product of the propylene glycol ether series, PM is a low-toxicity substitute for traditional ethylene glycol ether solvents (such as ethylene glycol methyl ether) and has been widely adopted in the coatings, electronics, and ink industries. It offers strong solvency, moderate evaporation rate, and good compatibility with resins, and does not carry the reproductive toxicity risks associated with ethylene glycol ethers.

Product Applications
- Coating Solvent: Used as a true solvent and co-solvent in water-based and solvent-based coatings, automotive paints, and coil coatings, improving leveling and preventing blushing;
- Electronic Cleaning: Used in semiconductor photoresist thinners, developer formulation, and electronic component cleaning (electronic grade);
- Ink and Printing/Dyeing: Used as a solvent for gravure and screen printing inks and as a textile printing and dyeing auxiliary;
- Cleaning Agents: Used in formulating industrial cleaners, paint removers, and adhesive removers;
- Organic Synthesis: Used to produce propylene glycol methyl ether acetate (PMA) and pesticide emulsifiable concentrate solvents.
Packaging, Storage & Transportation
Packaging: Standard packaging in 180kg or 200L galvanized iron drums; for large volumes, shipped in bulk via 1000L IBC totes, ISO tank containers, or tank trucks; electronic-grade product uses dedicated clean containers.
Storage: Classified as a Class 3 flammable liquid, UN No. 3092, with a flash point of approximately 32°C. Store in a cool, well-ventilated warehouse for flammable liquids, with warehouse temperature not exceeding 30°C, away from fire sources and heat, and strictly no open flames or smoking. Electrical and ventilation equipment must be explosion-proof, and containers and piping must be grounded to prevent static electricity. Store separately from oxidizing agents and strong acids. Containers must be sealed to prevent moisture absorption, which could affect water content and color specifications.
Transportation: Transported in accordance with Class 3 flammable liquid regulations; vehicles must be equipped with flame arresters and firefighting equipment. Control flow rate during loading and unloading to prevent static electricity buildup and packaging damage, and avoid exposure to high temperatures during transit.
