Product Introduction
Methyl Methacrylate (abbreviated as MMA), CAS No. 80-62-6, is a colorless and transparent liquid with a strong, pungent ester odor. Industrially, there are two production routes: the Acetone Cyanohydrin process (ACH process, using hydrocyanic acid, acetone, and methanol as raw materials) and the C4 process (using isobutylene or tert-butanol as raw materials through a three-step oxidation-esterification process). We can supply product from both sources. MMA is the most important methacrylate monomer; the PMMA (organic glass/acrylic) obtained through its polymerization has extremely high light transmittance and weather resistance, making it a key material for optics, displays, lighting, and architectural decoration. It is also a primary monomer for ACR impact modifiers, ACE processing aids, and coating emulsions. The product must have a polymerization inhibitor added and be stored away from light at low temperatures.

Product Applications
- PMMA Organic Glass: Produced via bulk or suspension polymerization to make acrylic sheets, pellets, and optical-grade PMMA, used in light guide plates, automotive lamps, signage, and bathroom fixtures;
- ACR and ACE Additives: Used to produce PVC impact modifier ACR and processing aid ACE, improving the impact resistance and flow properties of profiles and pipes;
- Coatings and Emulsions: Used as a hard monomer in acrylic emulsions, exterior wall coatings, and automotive paints, improving hardness and weather resistance;
- Adhesives and Artificial Stone: Used in acrylic adhesives, structural adhesives, artificial marble, and dental materials;
- Others: Used in leather treatment agents, paper glazing agents, and lubricating oil additives.
Packaging, Storage & Transportation
Packaging: Standard packaging in 200L galvanized iron drums, with a net weight of approximately 180kg/drum; for large volumes, shipped in bulk via ISO tank containers or tank trucks, all with hydroquinone-type polymerization inhibitors added.
Storage: Classified as a Class 3 flammable liquid, UN No. 1247, with a flash point of approximately 10°C, making it a highly flammable product. Must be stored in a cool, well-ventilated, light-protected Category A hazardous materials warehouse, with recommended warehouse temperature controlled below 25°C, and a storage period generally not exceeding 6 months — high temperature, light exposure, or inhibitor failure can trigger exothermic self-polymerization or even a runaway reaction. Must be stored separately from oxidizing agents, peroxides, strong acids, strong alkalis, and amines. Electrical and ventilation equipment must be explosion-proof, containers must be grounded to prevent static electricity, and storage tanks should be nitrogen-blanketed while retaining trace oxygen to maintain inhibitor effectiveness.
Transportation: Transported in accordance with Class 3 flammable liquid regulations; vehicles must be equipped with flame arresters and firefighting equipment. During summer high-temperature seasons, shading and cooling measures must be taken to avoid prolonged sun exposure, and inhibitor content should be confirmed to be within specification before long-distance transport.
