Product Introduction

Polyether Polyol (abbreviated as POP or Polyol), CAS No. 9003-11-6, is a colorless to light yellow transparent viscous liquid. Industrially, it is produced by ring-opening polymerization of propylene oxide and ethylene oxide, using active-hydrogen-containing compounds such as glycerin, propylene glycol, sucrose, or sorbitol as initiators. By adjusting the initiator functionality, molecular weight, and EO end-capping ratio, a series of grades can be obtained for different applications, including flexible foam, rigid foam, and CASE (Coatings/Adhesives/Sealants/Elastomers). Polyether polyol is one of the two main raw materials for polyurethane, forming polyurethane material when reacted with isocyanate (TDI/MDI) in the appropriate ratio. We can match grades according to customer formulation requirements, including general-purpose flexible foam polyol, high-resilience polyol, rigid foam polyether, and polymer polyol (POP).

Product Applications

  1. Polyurethane Flexible Foam: Reacted with TDI to produce furniture cushioning, mattresses, automotive seats, and packaging cushioning foam;
  2. Polyurethane Rigid Foam: Reacted with PMDI to produce insulation layers for refrigerators and freezers, architectural insulation boards, and cold storage/pipeline insulation materials;
  3. High-Resilience and Slow-Rebound Foam: Used to produce high-resilience sofa cushioning, memory foam pillows, and mattresses;
  4. CASE Applications: Used in polyurethane coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers (running tracks, wheels, shoe soles);
  5. Others: Used as a raw material for crude oil demulsifiers, defoamers, and surfactants.

Packaging, Storage & Transportation

Packaging: Standard packaging in 200kg or 220kg galvanized iron drums; for large volumes, shipped in bulk via 1000kg IBC totes, ISO tank containers, or tank trucks.

Storage: Not classified as a hazardous chemical; stored as general cargo. Must be stored away from moisture in a cool, well-ventilated, dry location, with a recommended storage temperature of 15~40°C; shelf life in original drum packaging is generally 6~12 months. Containers must be sealed to prevent moisture absorption — if polyether polyol absorbs moisture and water content exceeds specification, excess carbon dioxide will be generated during foaming, leading to coarse cell structure, cracking, or even foam collapse. Keep away from heat sources, fire sources, and strong oxidizing agents, and avoid prolonged direct sunlight exposure, which can cause oxidative yellowing. Product that has exceeded its storage period should be re-tested for hydroxyl value, moisture, and acid value, and may continue to be used if it passes inspection.

Transportation: Transported as general cargo. During loading and unloading, protect against rain exposure, contamination, and packaging damage; transport containers must be clean and dry. In winter, low temperatures significantly increase viscosity; moderate heating may be applied before unloading to facilitate pumping.
