Product Introduction
Potassium Hydroxide (Caustic Potash, abbreviated as KOH), CAS No. 1310-58-3, is a white flake or block solid, highly hygroscopic and prone to deliquescence, and strongly absorbs carbon dioxide from the air to form potassium carbonate. Industrially, it is produced via electrolysis of potassium chloride solution (ion-exchange membrane process), yielding liquid caustic potash which is then concentrated by evaporation and flaked into solid product. KOH has stronger alkalinity than sodium hydroxide, and potassium salts generally exhibit higher solubility and better low-temperature performance, giving KOH irreplaceable value in potash fertilizer, potassium salt production, battery electrolytes, biodiesel catalysis, and high-grade soap manufacturing. We regularly supply flake grades of 90% and 95% purity, and can also provide liquid KOH.

Product Applications
- Potassium Salt Chemicals: Used to produce potassium carbonate, potassium phosphate, potassium cyanide, potassium permanganate, and various other potassium salts;
- Battery Electrolyte: Used as the electrolyte for alkaline batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries, and alkaline fuel cells;
- Biodiesel: Used as a transesterification catalyst in biodiesel production;
- Daily Chemicals and Cleaning: Used to produce potassium soap, soft soap, liquid detergents, and heavy-duty hard-surface cleaners (strong degreasing power);
- Pharmaceuticals, Pesticides, and Others: Used in pharmaceutical intermediates, pesticide synthesis, textile printing/dyeing auxiliaries, glass and ceramic fluxing agents, as well as pH adjustment for rubber and petroleum drilling fluids.
Packaging, Storage & Transportation
Packaging: Standard packaging in 25kg woven bags with plastic liner or iron drums; 500kg and 1000kg jumbo bags available for large volumes, with liquid KOH shipped via tank container/truck.
Storage: Classified as a Class 8 corrosive substance, UN No. 1813. Must be stored in a dry, well-ventilated warehouse dedicated to corrosive substances, with strict moisture protection — this product is highly hygroscopic and prone to deliquescence and caking, and readily absorbs carbon dioxide, resulting in reduced content. Must be stored separately from acids, flammable materials, organic substances, and reactive metal powders (aluminum, zinc powder) — never store together. Packaging must remain fully sealed, and the warehouse floor must be kept dry with product stored on raised platforms to prevent moisture and rainwater ingress.
Transportation: Transported in accordance with Class 8 corrosive substance regulations, protected against rain and moisture exposure. Handle gently during loading and unloading to prevent packaging damage and dust generation; personnel must wear corrosion-resistant gloves, goggles, dust masks, and protective clothing, with eyewash stations and an ample supply of clean water available on site. When preparing solutions, KOH must be slowly added to water with continuous stirring to dissipate heat — water must never be poured onto solid caustic, to prevent violent exothermic splattering and injury.
