Product Introduction
Melamine (abbreviated MEL), CAS No. 108-78-1, is a white monoclinic crystalline powder, odorless, and slightly soluble in cold water. Industrially, it is produced from urea as a raw material through pyrolysis and condensation under high temperature and pressure, using ammonia gas as a carrier and silica gel as a catalyst, via either the gas-phase or liquid-phase process route. Melamine has a nitrogen content as high as 66%, and the melamine-formaldehyde resin (MF) formed by its polycondensation with formaldehyde exhibits outstanding properties such as high hardness, heat and water resistance, good gloss, and stain resistance, making it a core raw material for decorative boards, tableware, and adhesives. It also has stable demand in the fields of flame retardants and concrete water-reducing agents.

Product Applications
- Melamine-formaldehyde resin: Used to produce impregnated paper, fireproof decorative boards, laminate panels, and molded tableware (melamine ware);
- Adhesives: Used to produce melamine-modified urea-formaldehyde adhesive (MUF), improving the water resistance of wood-based panels and reducing formaldehyde emissions;
- Concrete water-reducing agents: Used to produce melamine-based superplasticizers (SM), for high-strength concrete and precast components;
- Flame retardants: Used as a component of halogen-free intumescent flame retardants and as a flame-retardant filler in polyurethane foam and nylon; also used to produce melamine cyanurate (MCA);
- Other applications: Used as a paper strengthening agent, fabric anti-wrinkle finishing agent, leather tanning agent, and coating cross-linking agent.
Packaging, Storage, and Transportation
Packaging: Standard packaging in 25kg kraft paper bags or woven bags with plastic liners; for large volumes, 500kg or 1000kg jumbo bags are available, or bulk shipment via powder tanker trucks.
Storage: Not classified as a hazardous chemical; store as general cargo. Must be stored in a dry, well-ventilated, clean warehouse, protected from rain and moisture — moisture exposure can cause caking and excessive moisture content. Keep away from heat sources and ignition sources, and avoid storing together with acids, alkalis, or colored materials to prevent contamination affecting whiteness. Stack neatly on raised platforms, and keep the warehouse clean and dust-free.
Transportation: Transport as general cargo. During loading and unloading, handle gently to prevent packaging damage and dust dispersion, and protect against rain exposure and moisture throughout transport. Operators are recommended to wear dust masks and gloves. Special note: Melamine is strictly prohibited for addition to food, dairy products, and animal feed, and is restricted to industrial use only; its sale and use must strictly comply with relevant regulations.
