Product Introduction
Titanium Dioxide (titanium dioxide pigment), CAS No. 13463-67-7, is a white powder, odorless and insoluble in water. Industrially, it is produced via two routes — the sulfate process and the chloride process — with products classified by crystal structure into Rutile type (excellent weather resistance and hiding power, used in coatings, plastics, and inks) and Anatase type (high whiteness, easy dispersion, used in papermaking, enamel, and synthetic fibers). Titanium dioxide is the best-performing white pigment in the world, with a refractive index as high as 2.7 (rutile type), leading all white pigments in hiding power, tinting strength, and whiteness, while also being chemically stable and non-toxic — making it an irreplaceable core pigment for the coatings, plastics, and papermaking industries. Product Applications
- Coatings and paints: Used as the primary white pigment in architectural coatings, automotive paints, industrial anti-corrosion coatings, and powder coatings, providing hiding power and weather resistance;
- Plastics and masterbatch: Used for coloring, whitening, and anti-aging in PVC, PE, PP, ABS products, and white masterbatch;
- Papermaking: Used as a filler and coating pigment for paper, in coated fine paper, decorative base paper, and banknote paper, improving whiteness and opacity;
- Inks and synthetic fibers: Used for coloring printing inks and for delustering synthetic fibers (anatase type);
- Other applications: Used in rubber, ceramic glazes, enamel, welding electrodes, cosmetics, and food coloring (corresponding grade products must be used).
Packaging, Storage, and Transportation
Packaging: Standard packaging in 25kg woven bags or kraft paper bags with plastic liners; for large volumes, 500kg or 1000kg jumbo bags are available, or bulk shipment via powder tanker trucks.
Storage: Not classified as a hazardous chemical; store as general cargo. Must be stored in a dry, well-ventilated, clean warehouse, protected from rain and moisture — moisture exposure can cause caking and affect dispersion performance. Keep away from water, acids, alkalis, and colored materials, to avoid contamination affecting whiteness and hue. Stack neatly on raised platforms, and keep the warehouse clean and dust-free. Any unused product from an opened bag should be promptly resealed to prevent moisture absorption and contamination.
Transportation: Transport as general cargo. During loading and unloading, handle gently to prevent packaging damage and dust dispersion, and protect against rain exposure and moisture throughout transport. Titanium dioxide dust disperses very easily, so dust concentration must be controlled at the work site, and operators must wear dust masks and protective goggles. Food-grade and cosmetic-grade product must be transported using dedicated vehicles with cleaning records retained.
